4-H Camp Staff Training Manual Available

Spring is here. The camp season is right around the corner, and the New York State 4-H Camping Program can provide help with your camp staff training.

Youth Development Foundations for 4-H Camp Staff, A Training Manual provides a template to be used by 4-H camp directors and management staff to train camp counselors and staff in the foundations of Youth Development.

The manual:
Provides a template that both novice and experienced camp directors can use to design effective camp staff training programs

Offers easy-to-use and proven lesson plans that save experienced camp directors time in planning by providing excellent camp staff training lessons

Increases the amount and quality of youth development training for staff (volunteer or paid) who work with youth in 4-H camping programs

Provides research-based knowledge to add depth and breadth of youth development learning to camp staff training programs

New York, Oregon, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia are using the manual, which was designed by camping and youth development professionals, as a major component in their camp staff trainings.
