1-Be Part of Camp Great American Bake Sale
We're looking for 4-Hers ages 13-17 to fill a limited number of spots at Camp Great American Bake Sale at the Betty Crocker Kitchens in Minneapolis, MN, June 17-20, 2004.
4-Hers chosen for Camp Great America Bake Sale each will receive an all- expenses-paid trip for the 4-H member and one parent. County 4-H agents should send names of interested 4-Hers who are available June 17-20, 2004, and have a parent who can accompany the 4-H member to the camp to Todd Wexler at twexler@fourhcouncil.edu by June 2, 2004. Spots will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis.
Camp Great American Bake Sale attendees will have the opportunity to bolster their baking skills and learn how to organize a fundraising bake sale in their communities. Their only obligation after the camp is to each host one bake sale in their home communities by July 25, 2004, through Kids Bake America Better, Betty Crocker's initiative to raise money and awareness for The Great American Bake Sale, a program to end child hunger in America.

2-4-Hers Head to Speed Street to Kick Off Kids Bake America Better
North Carolina 4-Hers from Cabarrus, Forsyth, Mecklenburg and Randolph counties are headed to Speed Street, in Charlotte, NC, May 27-28, 2004, to launch 4-H's partnership with Betty Crocker to fight childhood hunger in America.
This summer, 4-Hers from across the U.S. will be participating in Kids Bake America Better, Betty Crocker's initiative to support The Great American Bake Sale.
More than 13 million children live in households without an adequate supply of food, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. 4-Hers at the Kids Bake America Better booth at Speed Street will talk with festival-goers about the issue of child hunger and ask for donations in exchange for baked goods.
4-H clubs, after-school programs and youth leader associations are encouraged to register to hold bake sales as part of Kids Bake America Better and The Great American Bake Sale. Youth who do are supporting community and national efforts to fight against child hunger, learning about organizing and leading cause-related community service projects and strengthening community relationships locally and across the country. The money youth help raise will support summer and afterschool meal programs in their states and communities.
Those who register to hold a bake sale will receive information about child hunger in America and a learning module addressing youth involvement and leadership in community service. Some also will receive a special Bake Sale Kit designed specifically for 4-H by Betty Crocker featuring special balloons, cameras, tablecloths, Betty Crocker products, posters, execution kits and the learning module.
