Satellite Details for Essential Elements of 4-H Youth Development Presentation Announced

Satellite uplink information for The Essential Elements of Youth Development, a presentation by Cathann Kress, Ph.D., Director of Youth Development, National 4-H Headquarters, CSREES, USDA, has been announced.

Kress will present a visionary strategy for the future of youth development education, live via satellite from West Virginia University at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2004.

The Essential Elements include engaging youth in the academic environment of America's 105 state land-grant universities; teaching knowledge and life skills that enhance quality of life; and creating opportunities that promote positive youth development, often in challenging community environments.

The presentation is being made during the Fall 2004 meeting of National 4-H Council's Board of Trustees in Morgantown, WV. This meeting will see West Virginia University President David C. Hardesty become the first university president to serve as chair of the National 4-H Council Board.

4-H America's largest youth development organization is a community of young people who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H serves more than seven million youth.
