Pilot Testing Sites Needed for Youth in Philanthropic Fundraising Curriculum
National 4-H Council is soliciting pilot sites of 4-H or Foundation staff interested in testing the draft Power of YOUth in Philanthropic Fundraising curriculum, being created jointly by National 4-H Council and the South Dakota 4-H Foundation. Until now, there has been no curriculum available that specifically teaches young people about philanthropic fundraising and the ability to raise their own funds to implement initiatives of importance to them.
The curriculum itself is geared for use by mixed groups that include high-school-aged youth. This is a perfect curriculum if you are thinking of doing a philanthropic fundraising program down the line. It is advantageous for pilot testing sites to partner with or have access to a fundraising specialist or expertise. The curriculum has 26 lessons. We want to have all of the pilot testing finished by March 25, 2005 if at all possible.
What pilot testing sites will receive from National 4-H Council:
A copy of the curriculum to be used during the pilot testing.
Five copies of the evaluation and demographic forms to be used when piloting. An evaluation and demographic form must be completed for each activity/lesson tested.
What we need pilot testing sites to do:
Read through the curriculum and pick out 2-5 of the lessons to teach. The number of lessons needed to be taught by any single site will depend on the total number of sites participating.
Call or email Sally Miske with your lesson choices.
Set up a testing session or sessions with at least 10 youth (preferably more) in each session.
Teach selected lessons, have fun!, and complete an evaluation and demographics form for each lesson.
Return the forms (and draft copy if you've written edits or comments in it) to National 4-H Council.
If you are at all interested in pilot testing this new curriculum, please let Sally Miske know as soon as possible. She can be reached at smiske@fourhcouncil.edu or 301-961-2904.
