4-H'ers Honored for their Community Service Efforts
Eighteen 4-H members from 16 states were among the 102 State Honorees for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards who visited Washington, DC, in early May all expenses paid to be honored for their exemplary acts of volunteerism. Each State Honoree also received $1,000 and an engraved silver medallion. While in Washington, the State Honorees toured historic landmarks and visited their congressional representatives on Capitol Hill. They also were personally congratulated by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York during a gala dinner reception at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.
4-H members also accounted for 30 of the 234 Distinguished Finalists, and 57 of the 459 Certificate of Excellence recipients. The awards were announced in February.
Congratulations to all the 4-H youth honored as they continue to help better their communities and themselves.
