Secretary Schafer Announces Fight Hunger Initiative
Secretary Ed Schafer recently announced his sponsorship of the "Fight Hunger Initiative" for individuals and organizations who want to help USDA fight hunger in each community across America. The Secretary wants to encourage individuals and communities to help alleviate hunger in their communities. USDA believes that no one in America should go hungry.
How to help:
Download the toolkit to share with your local programs and groups and start helping your neighbors in need at usda.gov. In the toolkit, you will find step-by-step guides to start projects in your community, and additional resources to help you learn more about USDA food and nutrition programs.
Tell us about your new or innovative approach to fight hunger in your community, and enter for the chance to win Secretary Schafer's Fight Hunger Initiative Award.
In addition, the Secretary is seeking the opportunity to meet with some youth groups (at fairs or other state and local events) this summer and fall to highlight the Initiative and encourage these groups' involvement, specifically 4-H and FFA. Help us find appropriate venues for him to meet local 4-H youth and share his ideas about alleviating hunger. As he plans his travel, his office will alert National 4-H Headquarters as to his travel plans so we can let you know if he might be traveling to your state.
