In partnership with Cumberland Farms, National 4 H Council will offer Youth in Action grants to 50 local 4-H clubs or 4 H Afterschool sites located in an 11-state target market area. Eligible 4-H programs or 4-H Afterschool sites must be located in one of the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or Vermont. The result will be 5,000 youth and 1,500 adult and teen volunteers who identify a local community issue, develop and implement an action plan with goals and objectives, and ultimately create positive change in their communities. More than just community service, these grants support projects that encompass the four Essential Elements of 4-H: Independence, Belonging, Mastery and Generosity. 4-H Clubs or 4-H Afterschool sites that are awarded a Youth in Action grant will receive $1,400 to implement a service learning project that relates to one of the following areas of community need: Citizenship, Workforce Prep, Environment, Healthy Living, Safety, Science, Engineering & Technology
Grants are offered only to 4-H/Extension Programs in the 11 states listed above. If you are not a part of 4-H, we encourage you to contact your local Cooperative Extension office and become a project collaborator!
